Dick's Hideaway

"My overall grade for Dick’s Hideaway is: A This place was suggested by a great friend who eats here when he’s in town. Firstly, it is not obvious to find this place. You have to just trust the address and open the door. Once in, you’re greeted by a dark yet friendly place. A large bar that is full of folks even in the morning enjoying food & drinks. There is an open fire grill behind the bar. The menu is slanted towards great hearty Mexican fare. I had the Richardson Combo plate and substituted the asparagus for Mexican beans. Wise choice in my opinion. The dish does not come with a tortilla, so I ordered one on the side. Delicious. The eggs Benedict were great. Enchiladas spot on. I wish the beans were seasoned more as they required a bit of salt. Next time, I’ll order the green chile stew with eggs. Service is great! I would absolutely highly recommend this place and will come back."

"Hideaway is right! The restaurant is on the northwest corner of 16th St./ Bethany Home. Park in the lot and the doors are under the Sunbrite Corner sign. Very dimly lit, and we were encouraged to seat ourselves on a Saturday at 2:30 PM. The bar area was expectedly noisy, we went to the right and found a cozy booth that had plenty of lighting to easily read the menu. Devon was our server accompanied by another young lady, and young gentleman. The service was friendly, attentive, and flawless. Based on past reviews I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp and Carne Adovada. The shrimp came on a perfectly crisp with the right amount of charred tortilla, rice and beans with it topped with large shrimp. The Carne Adovada was excellent also. I always judge Mexican food by how the beans and rice are, if they are not right, the meal is not right. The spanish rice was perfect, and so were the pinto beans. The Carne Adovada was phenomenal! The appetizer and entree filled us both. Huge portions that travelled with us to the Biltmore for a late night generous snack! This place is a hidden gem, although I travel a lot and eat out quite a bit for work, when home I rarely venture out of the southeast valley. This place is well worth the trip across town, and I am looking forward to introducing my adult kids in the near future. This place checks all the boxes!"

"What a gem. Walk in, chill out, and enjoy some darn good food. Loves the vibe of this place and how fun th staff were. The portions are excellent, the food was incredible, and the Prickly Pear Margarita is a must with your breakfast!"
